NITDA Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme 2017/2018

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has as its mandate to develop and regulate the Information Technology in Nigeria. Developing and regulating IT will support in transforming Nigeria into an IT driven economy for global competitiveness and the dire need of digital literacy. The Agency has since 2010 established a scholarship scheme for Masters and Doctoral degree in relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) and ICT Law obtainable in Nigerian (Government and Private) Universities. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed dates for the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun States.

The Ekiti State governorship election will hold on July 14, 2018, while Osun State governorship election will hold September 22, 2018, INEC disclosed on Thursday. Commencement date of Campaigns for Ekiti Governorship election is April 15, 2018, and that of Osun State June 24, 2018.  These were made known by INEC national commissioner, Solomon Soyebi. Meanwhile, INEC has disclosed that more parties will soon be registered. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this during a consultative meeting with national leaders of political parties on Wednesday in Abuja. Kwara State Protest Over Unpaid Salaries, Poor Governance

UNION leaders and members of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, as well as members and supporters of Good Governance Forum on Wednesday protested in Kwara State. Members of the College of Education Academic Staff Union protested at the gate of  Kwara State College of Education, while members of the Good Governance Forun marched on many streets in Ilorin, including Taiwo and Unity roads. COEASU Chairman, Dr Mamman Saba, said members of the union were being owed many months of salaries. He also complained of dilapidated offices, toilets, hostels, classrooms, lack of water and electricity supply, as well as unsafe environment. He lamented alleged poor staff welfare, which he said include promotion without financial backing, non-gazetting of 40/65 years in service, non payment of October 2015 incremental salary till date, promotion of staff from 2012 without change in salary and threat of retrenchment. Nasarawa Polytechnic Student Drinks Poison To Protest His Carry-Over Courses - Crime

A student of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, has allegedly attempted to take his own life by drinking a substance said to be ‘sniper.’ The student, one Chinedu Iromuanya, in Public Administration Department, reportedly attempted committing suicide by drinking ‘sniper’ on October 2 over an alleged carryover he had in one of his courses. Our correspondent gathered that Iromuanya was sad because the polytechnic management had allegedly refused to clear him even after he had sat for the paper in 2016. PUNCH Metro learnt that the student, an indigene of Abia State, has however been discharged from the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia on Tuesday as confirmed by a nurse who did not want his name in print. Further findings, however, indicated that the management of the polytechnic had yet to report the case to the police station.
