On Wednesday April 22, 2020, the state security and defense forces conducted an offensive operation in the village of Muambong, located in Bangem, in the Kupe-Muaneguba division of the Southwest region. This operation, dubbed the “law enforcement operation”, saw the horrific execution of six (6) young unarmed men, including four ex-combatants who have laid down their arms since 2019. These boys have been executed at the using a knife, and an ax seized from one of the inhabitants of the village by splitting firewood around 6 a.m. To document this case, CHRDA interviewed more than 10 eyewitnesses and victims who gave corroborative testimony and details of the impact, amateur images were also analyzed. The soldiers attacked the village at around 2 a.m. to dismantle a separatist camp that existed there before 2019, but the camp was deserted because most of the combatants had laid down their arms in this village.
